Just because we are not one of the stars in The Real Housewives of New York doesn’t mean we don’t get the urge to round up our best girlfriends and head to the French West Indies for a fun (and wine) fuelled week in the sun. Similarly, just because there is a long term global travel ban right now doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t day dream about jet setting to highly sought after destinations and staying in luxury accommodation.
After emerging from the recent lockdown and recovering from the heartbreak of a global pandemic – the thought of soaking up the sun in a 5 star resort is certainly alluring. Imagine packing your beloved Gucci Globetrotter with nothing but swimwear and resort wear for a week at Eden Rock St Barths – the most glamorous hotel in the Caribbean.

Eden Rock St Barths, is a luxurious boutique hotel owned by Pippa Middletons in-laws, David and Jane Matthews. The hotel was severely damaged by Hurricane Irma in September 2017 but re-opened in November 2019 just in time for the Christmas festivities and New Year glamour. The hotel had been rebuilt with 37 rooms on offer and is as gorgeous as the people who flock there, normally making it a celebrity hotspot all year round. Sadly, the shutting down again in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Eden Rock St Barth’s has re-opened once again but of course, strictly adhering to the public health guidelines of the French government. The island of St. Barth’s is stated to be coronavirus free, you just need to rock up with your negative Covid Swab to prove you too are free of the virus.

Surrounded by sandy beaches and paradise green seas, the resort is located just a 7 minute walk to the Plage de Saint Jean beach and 1.1 km from Gustaf III Airport. Rooms are complete with high vaulted ceiling, gardens and balconies or if you wish to upgrade to the seaside you also get the ocean views. You can also hire a villa that includes a private pool, dedicated butler, personal chef, cinemas, art galleries and a car to galavant around St. Barths.

In addition to The Sand Bar where the truffled pizzas and lychee brioche caviar flows like Dom Perignon, the Matthews have introduced the Rémy Bar, named after the first and only previous owner of the hotel before the Matthews family. They have also added a designated beachside spa area with a frosé trolley and a new children’s treatment menu. Amongst all of this are well-trained staff who will read your mind and bring you everything before you have even asked for it. Not to mention professional sunscreen attendants at your beckon call to lather you up when you are pool side.

“We no longer have reception, nor concierge services– for example. Our teams anticipate the expectations of each guest by getting familiar with their habits. The onus is no longer on the customer to approach us with their requests”.

Kayaking by day and sipping elixir cocktails by night and aways surrounded by a panoramic view of the caribbean sea. This hotel will not disappoint even the A-List celebrities.
“For foodies, the Sand Bar serves delectable cuisine masterminded by celebrated Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and for cocktail therapy, everyone meets at the Rémy Bar. Wellbeing is also on the menu with the ultimate in pampering at the Eden Spa by Ligne St Barths and tailor-made programs by our wellness coach. This is a true island home”.
